4 Crows Meaning: What Do They Symbolize and What’s the Spiritual Significance?

Four Crows on a Fence

What does it mean if you see four crows together? Is there any spiritual or symbolic significance? In this post, we’ll take a look at what the special sighting of seeing four crows can mean symbolically and spiritually.

Four Crows Meaning: True Love and Support

Crows are very social birds who will congregate in small family groups as well as large flocks in the hundreds. However, even though they’re social, crows are monogamous birds who mate for life.

So, if you see four crows together, you could likely be seeing two crow couples, or two bonded pairs.

On a symbolic level, seeing four crows together can signify romantic commitment and having the steadfast support of not just your partner but of friends who are also a couple, your own parents, or your in-laws.

The number 4 itself symbolizes steady support. So, this meaning in conjunction with the devotion that crows have for their mates is a positive omen for romantic relationships and even marriage.

Furthermore, as I wrote about in my post on crow symbolism, crows understand the concept of reciprocity. For example, they will bring gifts to people who feed them regularly. So, this is another way that seeing four crows together is a sign for a happy and harmonious romantic relationship.

Financial Security

Crows are highly intelligent birds who are known to stash food in a cache, or hiding place, for a future time when they might need it.

In addition, the number 4 itself is a symbol of support (as mentioned earlier) and security. For followers of sacred geometry, the number 4 is a symbol for foundation. Like a cube or a sturdy table with four legs, the number 4 embodies the concept of support and stability.

The number 4 is also a symbol for substance and the physical, or material, world.

So, seeing four crows is a positive sign for manifesting the type of prosperity that gives you long-term security.

Along these lines, your sighting of four crows can be a reminder to tend to your “nest egg” to build financial security for yourself and those you love.

Life Planning

As they represent secure relationships and financial security, seeing four crows together can also be a sign to pay close attention to what you want to achieve in your life and whether you have an actionable plan to get there.

In nature, the number 4 appears in ways that help us orient ourselves. For example, there are four seasons in a year and the moon has four phases. There are also four weeks in a month. In addition, there are four cardinal directions: north, south, east, and west.

So, the number 4 is very much about orientation and direction. Combine this with the fact that crows have excellent navigational skills and you have a special sign that’s prompting you to ask yourself: ‘Do I know where I’m going?’ It’s as though the four crows are saying, “Write down your big life goals, then put a plan in place to get there.”

There is an old saying that goes, “There are two kinds of people in the world: those who make life happen and those who let life happen to them.” The crow is a bird who makes life happen. Be a crow.

Four Crows Meaning: Mastery

The meaning of four crows also implies the idea of mastery. The symbolism of four crows vs., say, three crows, is that the four crows are saying, “Do not cut corners!” In other words, to truly build a solid foundation, you have to put in the practice, the energy, and the time it takes to master what you set out to achieve.

This could be in the form of a career, a creative endeavor, mastering a skill, or even creating a healthy family or other successful relationships.

Crows are symbols of survival and adaptability, as their populations have thrived where those of too many other wild animals have not. So, the crow is an excellent example of determining a way to make things work. Thus, seeing four crows is a good sign that says if you put in the effort, you will reap the rewards.

Fulfillment

The number 4 has many positive associations related to security, support, and mastery. So, four crows together are also a symbol of fulfillment. Seeing two pairs of crows is a positive sign that you have the potential to create true happiness and fulfillment in your life.

The crows will remind you to have a clear picture of just what fulfillment means to you. Without it, your life and even your relationships could lack direction.

Spiritual Awareness

Four Crows in the Forest

On a spiritual level, seeing four crows together can be a sign to be a spiritual student. Remember that the crow is an inquisitive and clever bird. They don’t passively wait for things to come to them, they are curious seekers.

In Buddhism, the number 4 relates to the Four Noble Truths, which, when acknowledged, can put the student on the path to enlightenment. The Four Nobles Truths in Buddhism are:

  1. Dukkha, which is suffering or dissatisfaction
  2. Samudaya, the source or cause of the suffering
  3. Nnirhodha, desire, craving, or attachment, and
  4. Magga, the release, or letting go, of the suffering.

Essentially, Buddhists believe that you must face and accept the realities of existence vs. trying to avoid or numb yourself of these truths. Then, with practice, you have the power to overcome the suffering or dissatisfaction.

So, your four clever crows can be reminding you to be curious and receptive to spiritual lessons. But also to know that you are not doomed to suffer. You can overcome.

Also on a spiritual level, the ancient Greek mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras viewed the number 4 as a symbol of universal wisdom.

And in Christianity, the number 4 symbolizes the presence of God and God’s ubiquitous power. For example, in the Book of Revelation 7:1-41, the Apostle John says that he saw “four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree.”2

Thus, while many people can easily walk by four crows without even thinking about them, on a symbolic level, they can have deep spiritual meanings.

Summary

In summary, seeing four crows together is a positive sign for security, happiness, and fulfillment in your life. In addition, they can be a reminder to be open to spiritual teachings, which can bring greater spiritual awareness and fulfillment.

  1. I went to the park with my 2yr old today so she could run around and I can just.. think… While sitting on the bench I happened to look up and saw 4 crows fly down to the ground and form a straight line with a gap in between each of them!… At first I just glanced at them, then got carried away again with my thoughts. But then looked up again and they were still standing there in formation!… I’m like what!?! Then my daughter ran after them and they flew away… That image, for some reason, stayed with me all day… Plus, I’ve been seeing numbers in sequence all week (111, 222, 333, 444 etc.)

    1. Thanks for your message! I love this story because it shows me that you are in touch with other dimensions in our world/in the Universe. You are seeing patterns (the crows, the angel numbers) while also being in deep thought. So, you’re tuning into higher conscious experiences. Then, your daughter comes along and is like, “Hey Mom! I’m here! Stay grounded. We have things to do!” – as she shews the crows away. :o)

I love this on so many levels. It’s about balance! And the four crows symbolize balance, stability, security, like the number 4 does – like a cube or a stable base. Another reminder that it’s ok to be in your thoughts but also remember to be here, in the present moment, and to stay grounded.

I go through this myself – sometimes I’m way too in the clouds. Then, my pets do something to bring me back to the present moment. Or I see one of my spirit animals – like a hawk who flew in and landed on a branch right near me the other day. I was on a walk, talking to a friend about an opportunity I was considering that would not be right for me. The hawk was like, “Hello! Stay on track, Girl!” It was a clear reminded to stay my course. Thanks for sharing this!

    1. Animals help us to understand ourselves better. I’m sorry you’re experiencing tough times. I understand. Remember that you have more power to change energy within yourself and around you than you realize. Take are!
